Target existing customers: Very often, the customers you already have provide the easiest way to secure repeat business. How about offering an annual roofing inspection service? It’s a good way boost your business with an annual fee, and keeping in contact generally helps maintain relations with both past and existing customers.
Hunt down new customers: By actively advertising and promoting yourself via social media channels, you stand a better chance of picking up new business. How about joining schemes such as TrustMark* or Which? Trusted Traders**? Not only is it an excellent and cost-effective way to help raise your company’s profile, it will enhance your reputation as a trustworthy and reliable roofing contractor.
Introduce new services: Specialising or training for another skill and qualification to widen your services is another great step. To help your customers save time and money, you could register for CompetentRoofer; enabling you to quickly self-certify Building Regulations on roof refurbishment. Heritage roofing specialists can also apply to join The National Heritage Roofing Contractors Register that’s used by the four national Heritage Agencies.
Top up your training: With constant changes in regulations, it pays to keep abreast of all the latest developments in roofing. Being a member of NFRC means you will have a fast pass to the latest news and developments, as well as access to workshops, free training sessions, newsletters and blogs. Remember, it’s all about best practice.
Seek business advice: Some business issues such as contractual or legal disputes can be tricky, so it pays to call in the experts. If you’re a member of NFRC, you have access to a number of dedicated services from organisations such as The National Specialist Contractors’ Council (NSCC)***. There you can obtain help and support on a range of key business issues, including free credit checks.
